Annual report

Letter from the President and annual institutional report

A yearly account of what the institution set out to do, what it completed, what it measured and what it will prioritise next.

Letter from the President

On building an institution that outlasts a cycle

Issued for the 2026 institutional year

The economic relationship between the United States and Türkiye has never lacked ambition. It has lacked execution. Delegations meet, memoranda are signed, reports are written — and the companies that were supposed to benefit are left holding an introduction rather than a contract.

USTEDC was created to close that distance. Our mandate is narrow on purpose: one corridor, one measurable framework, and accountability for completed transactions rather than activity. We do not replace the agencies, chambers and trade organizations that already serve this relationship. We coordinate execution across them.

In this institutional year the priority has been foundation rather than scale: establishing the Independent Advisory Council, publishing the impact measurement methodology, opening the founding coalition to corporate members, and preparing pilot activity across five U.S. states and five Turkish regions. These are deliberately modest steps. An institution that intends to last is built in the order of governance first, capability second, scale third.

We publish our methodology before we publish our numbers, because a figure without an attribution rule behind it is advocacy, not measurement. Every outcome we report will be traceable to a documented engagement, screened against double counting, and reconciled with official statistics. Where we fall short of a target, that will be reported with the same prominence as where we exceed one.

The bilateral objective of $100 billion in annual trade will not be reached by any single organization, and we will never claim it as ours. Our commitment is narrower and, we believe, more useful: to make the next transaction happen, to document it honestly, and to do it again enough times that the trajectory changes.
